 The #1 thing people feel comfortable talking about is themselves. And the easiest thing to do in conversation is ask questions. I ask people things like: “Where do you live? Do you have kids? What are their ages? Where do they attend school? What do you do? Do you love what you do?” etc

Think about it this way: Larry King is the “King of Questions”. He made a really great living asking people questions and interviewing them. We do the same thing as professional networkers: we make a great living getting to know others, and mastering the art of networking—one question at a time 

So get out there—accept that invitation to the networking event. Go and network (alone!) Ask a lot of questions, learn to master the art of great conversation (with questions) and see where it will lead! Be the King (or Queen) of Questions! That’s how you’ll find your “Aces”!

Today I want to share with you a quick list-building tip to ensure your leads never run dry! Watch this 2-minute video, then read today’s blog below for more ideas on how to keep your prospecting “funnel full”!

Here are some more ideas of ways that you can ROCK your recruiting, as you build a big list=>

Revisit your customers- “How are you loving your products? I’m not sure if I ever shared, but as a distributor of the products I get a great discount. I would love to get you on a program where you can get wholesale pricing too, and possibly earn your products for free or make a little money by sharing them with others. Do you have a few minutes where I can share more about how?” (share your business, and distributor discounts and benefits)

Revisit past prospects or former business builders—”I know the timing wasn’t right before, but if ever there’s a time to take another peek at the company, the time is now. Going into fall, business is booming so now is the time to get trained and begin to assemble your team—plus new products and promotions are coming out. The time is now. I wanted to revisit and see if the time is right to take another look. I would hate for you to miss out.” (share what’s new and exciting)

Go through your phone and Facebook contacts– is it possible there’s people there that you haven’t reached out to yet? Call them: “I wanted to share some exciting news with you. I started a new business (tell them more about your product or service and your story in how you found it and why you’re excited about it). My business is building in your area, and I wanted to share it with you–and see if I could pick your brain and get ideas of how to build there, and who you know might be interested. Could I treat you to coffee (or virtual coffee with a coffee gift card) and tell you more?”

Lifestyle Networking– Compliment/ Connect– Pass out Samples and Follow Up–  Look for ways to engage in conversation. Give someone a compliment.  Ask a lot of questions. (“Great service. Do you love your job?” or  ”Cute kids. Where do they go to school?” etc)  Then leave them with a sample. “I’ve loved chatting with you today. I would love to leave you with this gift (tell them more about the sample, and what it does.) I promise you’ll love it. If you promise you’ll try it, I promise I’ll follow up!” Get their name, number, and tell them what time you’ll call, and write it on the card you leave with them. When you follow up: “How’d you love the product? Before I tell you more about it, I would love to tell you why I’m excited about my business!”

Parties/ Virtual Parties– Reach out to your friends and ask them to host an event for you: “My business is building in your area. I’d love to meet new people. Would you be willing to host an event for me? You invite the people, I’ll do all the work, and throw in some free product as a thank you!”

Social Media– we are paid story tellers. Mix up your personal and inspirational posts with a little bit of business every few days: lifestyle posts, congratulations and welcoming to new new distributors, or shout outs to people who made an achievement to edify that person, encourage your team, and engage and interest your FB audience. Share product tips and testimonials, along with before and afters.

If you find people aren’t interested–“No problem, I’d love to get you on our products and get great results. And do you know anyone who would be interested in my products or business? If so, I’d love to reward you for your referrals and  give you product for free as a thank you!”

This is a brilliant business model where instead of investing in advertising and celebrity endorsement, companies invest in our success. This opportunity allows us to leverage the integrity of big brands, and the time, talent and resources of our corporate dream teams.

Direct selling is a simple business model that doesn’t require a college degree, huge overhead, employees, or a brick and mortar shop. It’s a scalable business, and it’s just plain smart. The Direct Selling Association recently celebrated its 100-year anniversary, so it’s a tried and true business model that’s proven to be solid.

Network Marketing Hype Makes Me Sad, and Makes Us All Look Bad!

The grass ISN’T greener…
Just for the record, in network marketing…
1) Timing in a company doesn’t guarantee you a check. Your productivity does.
2)You have to work your business. Every day. Personal activity is the cure to what ails you in your network marketing business. You will be successful if you make 3 NEW invitations every day for people to hear more about your business, and then you give it the time it takes to be successful. This is true in any credible company with an average product and plan.
3) Give your business 3-5 years of your time, effort, and energy. It takes time to develop your talent. But where else could you compress a 30-50 year career into 3-5 years?
4) Remember, that the grass is never greener in another company–the grass is only greener where you water it. You’ll do 2 things in network marketing: sell a product and promote an opportunity.
5) So pick a company with a product you’re passionate about, and stick with it!

I’ve had people try to recruit my colleagues into another company, noting “timing” in their company–and said that it was because they are a “ground floor” company. First of all, I don’t endorse cross recruiting people from other companies (respect that they are in the company they chose for a reason) nor do I endorse recruiting based on “hype” (it makes our profession look bad)–neither are good/ethical recruiting practices. There were plenty of people who started at the same time as me in my company who weren’t willing to work, or didn’t have the long term vision who quit–I stayed in it and am a seven figure earner in my company today, and so is my mother. Timing doesn’t guarantee you a check–PRODUCTIVITY DOES! So let’s get to work, and ROCK YOUR NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS!

Summer is here, and now is the time to rock your network marketing business! We have so many opportunities to heat things up with travel, social events, etc! Check out my video below, for a little inspiration–then read below the video for top tips to build a rockin’ hot business this summer=>

Sizzling Summer Tips from the Top:

1) Make the most of travel. While at hotels, or on the airplane ask people a lot of questions while networking: “What brings you to South Carolina. Where are you from? What do you do?” You can later bring the conversation back: “Earlier you mentioned you were from Florida. I am actually building a business there. I would love to stay in touch and continue our conversation–and perhaps I could share with you more at a later time about our expansion into your area. What is a great way to stay in touch?” Get their number, and find them on Facebook! Don’t forget to follow up! (*I met one of my newest top leaders on the beaches of Bora Bora!)

While in new areas, don’t forget to have friends or family you are visiting to host events for you so you can get in front of their network. This way you can add new customers and distributors in new markets, but you can also write off a portion of the trip! (ask your accountant for advice. I am not one). You should try this even if you aren’t in a party plan (I’m not–and I still do events as I believe it is a great way to get my opportunity and product in front of a lot of people at once!)

2) Bring samples and cards everywhere you go this summer! Pass out 3-5 per day! Look for opportunities on the lake, at the pool, and at events–weddings, graduation parties, etc! Your goal is to make new friends, and get their digits!

3) Gift products at every occassion–end of year teacher gifts, fundraisers, etc. Be sure to follow up to see how they love them, and if they love them–wouldn’t they want to hear more about the opportunity (so they can get them at wholesale pricing?)

4) Host summertime soirees–“cocktails and conversations”, “coffee and conversations”–Poolside? Outside? For your team, your customers, and your prospects! These events can be “friends and family/ customer appreciation events” where you do giveaways, and share more about your products and opportunity–and feature success stories of people loving the products, and experiencing success with the business!

5) Keep the kids busy (day-camp, babysitters, play-dates!) Kids want a change of scenery, and you deserve the undistracted time to revisit and refresh your contact list! Go through your phone, facebook, and any other “memory jogger” you have! Commit to calling 1 or 2 new people per day about your business. Revisit customers too–they make the best distributors, as they are already in love with your products!

Set a goal with your sponsor for the summer months–do the same for your team. Get an accountability partner in the business to work together with–help your team members find one too! Remember–the speed of the leader is the speed of the team (whatever you do will duplicate)! So don’t slow down–it’s easier to steer momentum than it is to start it back up again!

How to launch new markets virtually--You can successfully launch new markets if you’re long distance! I do it every day. How? Watch the video below–then read the blog below the video for a step-by-step approach=>

What is a VBL?–it is a cross between a live event and an opportunity call, and it allows you to present powerfully with your team from anywhere in the world. VBLs come in handy when you are growing a market out of state (or the country) and it allows you to support a growing team there!

Here’s the types of technology I like to use for virtual launches and presentations:

Skype or Google Hangout– (which have a video component).  For large groups, I like to ask my distributors to  hook up their computer to their TV via an HDMI cord so their prospects can see me on a large screen. I also ask that they test their speakers to be sure no one is straining to hear me.

Pick a service, do some research, google search for tutorials, practice!

Here are a few tips on VBLS: What to do Pre-, During, and Post-Event:

  1. Pre-event
    Tell your distributor to focus on inviting.  Connect by phone to personally invite guests. Tell them their support means the world to you. Then send invitations. Follow up a few days before the actual event with a text: “So excited for Saturday! See you then!”
  1. During the Event:
    Give an engaging presentation, and have the distributor stream you into their event! They share their story, and introduce you. Open up with your story–the company’s story–more about the opportunity. Transition into your product story–share more about your product and how it can benefit the prospect (if applicable, hold up the products behind the screen as you share them). End with a clear call to action of what to do next if they are interested in the product or opportunity. Create urgency (offer free gifts with purchase until a certain date–or 3-way calls for the next 2 days if interested in the business!) The distributor on the other end should be coached on how to make product recommendations, take orders, and schedule 3-way calls if people are interested in the business. Coach them on how to close the event effectively when you’re offline–and you be by your phone in case they call you, and need help.
  2. Post Event:
    Remind your distributor–the fortune is in the follow up! They need to call each guest: “Thank you so much for coming! What did you think of the launch? What questions did you have?” –Then transition into the business: “I think the business would be a great fit for you too, because… (personalize the conversation). Do you have any interest?”

Today’s objection- “Is this a pyramid?!”

Yesterday’s blog addressed the objection “I need to try the products first!” In part 7 of the “Objection Series” we will address the objection “Is this a pyramid?!!”

Let’s talk a little bit about network marketing (direct sales). In 2012 Network Marketing did over $167 Billion Dollars as an Industry, and we get to share in the profits! (Compare that to the NFL at $9.5 Billion, and the Movie Industry at $80 Billion!) The Direct Selling Association recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary, proving it to be a timeless and true business model.

Is this a pyramid? (How many times do you think I heard this?!?!?!)

Actually, In the past 5 years I’ve only heard this objection once because of my belief and posture—it’s so strong that it’s not questionable. So if you’re getting this a lot be sure to connect with one of your leaders about personal and professional development materials that can increase your belief in yourself, our opportunity, and the profession as a whole (I share a lot about why Network Marketing ROCKS, in my best-selling book ROCK YOUR NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS!)

If I got this objection I might say something funny like: “No. Why? Is that what you’re looking for? “ Or…

“What do you mean by Pyramid?” (Listen to their response)

Pyramids are illegal. With pyramids there is no exchange of goods or services. We have an amazing product and a very loyal customer base who are elated with their results! Let’s get back to talking about if the business is a good fit for you—what other questions do you have?” I move forward, and don’t get defensive.

Closing:

After you’re done answering questions and handling objections, move on to the close– I would ask them if they have any final questions then say:

“On a scale from 1-10, how interested are you in the opportunity?” If they say 5 or higher, I would say: “what would make you a 10?” –this works very well, as it exposes their final objections that you can answer.Then, ask them to join you!

Remember: even if they say “no” now, delay is not denial. “No” doesn’t mean “no” forever, it just means “not right now”. Get them started on your products, and ask them who they know that would benefit from your opportunity and product. Then, revisit them at a later time.
