By now you know my story–formerly shy, broke, young kindergarten teacher, turns million dollar earner in Network Marketing in four short years! Thanks to the hard work of our team of rock stars, by the age of 29 I became my company’s first 6-figure MONTHLY earner, and we’ve mentored many 6- and 7-figure earners on our team who drive free cars, and are enjoying luxury trips to fabulous destinations! Our greatest joy is seeing lives changed: through the power of our profession (with the opportunity it provides), and the power of the rewards (time and finances we can give to others in need, as we start our own foundation for children!)

How We Started

When I started my business my only initial desire was to earn an extra $3,000 per month in case I lost my teaching job. My mom and I were the first consultants in the company, so we had no upline leading us. Having been a product educator formerly for our company we did what we knew how to do—we began selling a lot of product! This was great because I was earning a few hundred to a thousand dollars residual income. I was happy with the results that came from my part time efforts, and my mom (my upline) loved it because she was making a great residual income from my sales too! We felt like we were on to something—and that this business opportunity was our “best kept secret”! I committed to continue selling products! We eventually “saw the light” through reading success stories in Networking Times of leaders earning six and seven figure incomes. How did they do it? They all built a team to leverage their efforts and increase their income! When I made the shift from just product sales to adding in power prospecting for the business– I watched my check more than double in a matter of months, and skyrocket from there!

Price of the Promise

What is prospecting? Webster’s Dictionary defines it as looking for GOLD. Prospecting is the process of talking to people, in hopes that you will find some who are interested in joining you on your products or in your business. In the process of these conversations, you’ll “sift through” a lot of people to find a few who will join you. Then, you’ll have a lot of people join you, of whom will work at varying paces—keep in mind, it only takes a few power partners to change your life! That’s your “gold”! Remember–you may have to talk to a lot to find those few—kind of like sifting for gold. If I told you that you had 4 gold bricks in your back yard, would you continue to dig until you find them? Sure you would!

I’m living proof of this concept. I’ve been sifting for a long time. I’ve probably talked to thousands of people since I started my business 5 years ago. I’ve had over 100 join me. I have about 30 people working this business at a moderate pace. As of today, I have 10 top leaders in our plan at this time, and of those about 3 people who account for a good majority of my income. What happened to the rest? Some order product, some occasionally promote, and unfortunately some decide the timing isn’t right for them.  As with any profession, there is power in working through your odds to find leaders and pace setters It takes a lot of “sifting” until you “strike gold!” You never know what people will do–or who they will lead you to.

Is it a “Numbers Game”?!

I’ve found the same stats and percentages to be pretty similar industry wide.—as it relates to how many you must personally talk to, and sponsor before you strike gold. I was asked on stage at a major industry event last year, with the #1 earner of his company, my friend, Jordan Adler. He brought up several top earners of different companies, with different products and payplans…some of us having a few years experience in the profession, some having over 20 years. He asked us each how many people we’ve sponsored and of those how many account for 80% or more of our income. The results were very similar.

We’d been in the business anywhere between 5-25+ years. We sponsored anywhere between 50-100+ over time. Most of us had 80% of our income coming from anywhere between 1-3 legs, tops!

The major growth of your organization will probably be tied to just 2-3 people too. But you never know what your personal set off odds will be, and how many conversations you’ll have, or how many people will join you before you find them! So get ready to talk it up!  The more people you share this with, the better your odds of finding your power partners!

I’d like to leave you with an inspiring story on this New Years of when I “struck gold” New Years Eve, four years ago…

The Story of the $50 Million Dollar Woman

‎4 years ago today– Susie Sheftel said YES, and changed my life, and thousands of others! What a POWERFUL way to ring in the New Year!

Here’s her story (there’s a lesson to be learned by all!)

I personally brought on board a woman in time shares who I used to lovingly refer to as “Negative Nelly” as she really didn’t have a positive outlook on her business or her ability to reach out to people. She wasn’t willing to make phone calls or do events to find prospects for her business. One day, as a last minute resort I crafted an email that she could at least send to her contacts. It found Susie Sheftel on New Years Eve! (all the more reason you should be prospecting today!) Susie read the email, and being an entrepreneur, she immediately recognized the power of our profession. On December 31, she was introduced to me on a 3way call with her soon-to-sponsor, who at the time was my personal partner. Susie immediately saw the vision and enrolled on New Years Eve…what a way to toast to new beginnings! Unfortunately Susie’s sponsor got discouraged that she had only enrolled one consultant. She decided that this wasn’t for her, and she quit.

A few short years later, her team of one (Susie) grew into an incredible team that spans across the entire country. In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing teams, and one of the largest legs in our company. Many team members are driving beautiful free cars, earning amazing incentive trips, and incredible incomes. In fact, Susie moved into her dream home on the water in Boca Raton. Can you imagine if Susie’s sponsor stuck with it? She could be experiencing the same time and financial freedom. When you think about it, Susie’s sponsor’s “set of odds” were pretty good– her first team member ended up being a multi-million dollar producer!

Per the advice of my friend Richard Brooke, today, I’m renaming Negative nelly to the $50 million dollar woman. She started this business at about age 30. After taxes, and with conservative investments, and not even taking into effect organizational growth over time, that’s what she could have earned if she didn’t walk away. Proof. You never know what people will do, or who they will lead you to. As I toast this New Year’s Eve, I toast to Susie for changing my life, and thousands of others. Susie’s group accounts for a good chunk of my team!

What are your odds?

Here’s the lesson:  your success is directly related to the degree to which you are willing to work to find others like yourself who are committed to succeed. Would you be willing to hear uncounted “No’s” to sign up 100+ people until you “strike gold” and find 3 million dollar leaders like I did? I hope you will. Of course it would be easier if you knew the odds up front.

But here’s the catch: You have your own set of odds and you won’t know what they are until AFTER YOU’VE SUCCEEDED. So if you haven’t found your “power partners” yet, you can either give up and assume the business doesn’t work for you, but somehow works for others…or recognize that you are working through your own numbers. Give your business the time it takes to build big! Be relentless. Don’t quit! Go for the GOLD!

Let’s Get Social!

Developing your online presence is powerful!

Why? Social media is now the #1 activity on the web! It’s a great way to get in touch and keep in touch with people you know, and people you meet! There are currently over 750 million users on Facebook, over 200 million on Twitter, and over 100 million on LinkedIn  If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest in the world! Recently, Facebook traffic surpassed Google traffic. What does this mean to our business? Since we are living in a social economy—who you know and what they have to recommend is more influential now than ever before! People trust their friends opinions and recommendations. Social media is a great tool of engagement to expose people to your business.

Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 7.54.04 PM

Here’s 5 helpful hints in getting started online:

1)   If you haven’t already, Create a FB profile! If you don’t know anything about FB find the nearest Gen Y-er and ask them to set you up! If you aren’t “social media savvy” I just recommend that you start on FB first as it is the easiest to figure out, and the most interactive, fun, personable site.

2)   While creating your FB profile be sure to upload a great profile picture. Have someone take a good one for you, or go to get one done professionally. Many photographers will take a headshot for you for less than $100- and you can just ask them for the digital file to upload. Remember- you are branding YOU. If you want people to think you’re successful you must play the part. Your headshot is like your logo!

3)   Be sure to complete your entire profile information. Be sure  you add your company websites as well! Email addresses and contact information are great so people can direct message you too!

4)   Last—clean up your profiles… go through each current online profile you have with a fine tooth comb. What impression do you want people to have of you? Look at what albums you have uploaded. Delete where necessary—college parties may not be the best idea to have posted. Be real at the same time—pictures of your family, vacations, etc are great! It’s important that people see you outside of your business, and of course that you’re occassionally highlighting experiences in your buisness too.

5)   Learn the basics on FB.  Learn how to  set up your profile page, add friends and make friends, learn how to add and tag images and people in posts, learn how to copy a video link and insert your website links, encourage engagement on your posts, be interesting so people continue to follow you, and GET SOCIAL…

Create posts that engage and inspire, and people will want to follow you! It’s very important that you keep your messages balanced and not post about your business every day! Keep your messages mixed by mixing up your posts with personal posts (ie, cute things your kids say, trips with the family, experiences, and interesting things happening in your life or day.) Share inspiration—when in doubt, I share an inspirational quote or thought—people tell me all the time that they like following me because I’m inspiring—so when in doubt, post an inspirational quote! Then, sprinkle in your business or product in a clever way!

Here are TEN TOP examples of POWER POSTS for people in the Networking Profession:

1) Welcome your new consultants on your personal FB page and tag them, this way it shows up on your page for your audience to see, and their for theirs to see—I post a little bit about them (ex: Join me in welcoming my new consultant Sarah who’s a kindergarten teacher in MI…—this way, I might inspire other teachers to inquire, or my friends in MI), and by asking people to join you in welcoming them, you get a lot of interaction on the post—making the new consultant feel good, and increasing your exposure to your audience as it makes top news. (FB looks at the number of “likes”, “comments” or “shares” to determine what posts make top news. This increases your chance of your post showing up in your friend’s newsfeed.)

2) Promote opportunity calls—You never know who’s curiosity it will pique.

3) Promote events–post a picture of the event of flyer for upcoming  business presentations…and say something like: “Who do you know in southern california? My business is building there, and we are looking for leaders. Message me about my referral rewards program”…you never know who will inbox message you. I build the value and interest by saying I only have a limited number of tickets… ….I even offer my guests a free product and a drink on me of they decided to attend!

4) Share success stories, testimonials, videos, and pictures—this provides validation, inspiration, and social proof. Do this for both your product results and business success stories.

5) Share congratulations!  You can do this when someone makes a bonus, promotion, earns a car or trip, has a milestone in their business story, etc. People will begin to watch and wonder how they can achieve that success too, and will begin to come to you, over time. Again, when it’s on your wall, your audience sees it, and when you tag the other person, so do they and their audience.

6) Do your own GIVEAWAYS from time to time

7) Do SPECIALS—month end, seasonal, when new product launches happens, etc.

8) Develop a Referral Rewards Program!  Engage your friends as evangelists for your product… Ask a customer to post their “review” on your wall.. And then get some conversation going…Ask people to post about your business too. I offered my little sister a cash bonus for sharing my story on her wall–one of my top leaders joined me because of that post! The best $50 I ever spent!

9) Product posts: Post before and after pictures, customer testimonials. Always be sure each product post has a link to your product site at the end.

10) Always incorporate PICTURES &  VIDEOS in each post. It catches the eye, and people are more likely to see and interact on your post. Whether it’s your own picture or  a picture that you find on google images that go with your post.

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

When you bless others, your life is blessed.

When you meet a need, your needs are met.

Going to India changed our lives radically—we went in with great anticipation of how we could bless the children of India, and change lives….but I must say, they blessed us, and our lives are forever changed.

I recently heard someone say: “Character develops over time. Revelation develops in an instant.” We feel as though we spent the past 30 years “preparing” for this one trip, and that this one trip has changed our lives in an instant. We had some pretty major revelations during this trip, and I believe it was because we took a step of faith into our destiny, even when it wasn’t easy—we left during our busiest time in business (during a qualifying month for our company convention) and in our personal lives (preparing for the holiday), travel was long and exhausting (almost 2 days travel in, and 30 hours and 4 flights to get home), and this type of trip is very taxing on the body and your emotions. This trip truly stretched us in many ways.

In preparation for our trip to India, we were told: “India is an attack on the senses”. You don’t truly realize the magnitude of that statement until you go. In some of the poorest areas, and most remote parts of the world, we saw, smelled, heard, tasted, and felt things we had never experienced before: from staying up in the mountains in the freezing cold with no heat, to extreme heat and mosquitos in the city areas (which is especially bad during the summer). The sounds: we got used to hearing constant horns beeping in the city areas (they use horns to communicate on the road), to roosters constantly crowing and birds squawking the mountains. The sights: we saw extreme poverty—homeless children gathering scraps of food to eat, alongside of the road. The most memorable experience for me was having a complete moment of anxiety on the side of a mountain—over 5,000 feet up, in an old rickety bus, on a one lane dusty trail (of which they were cleaning after a mudslide). Imagine being on a bus, looking off a cliff, on a steep one-lane, mountainside “trail”. The locals called it the “road to China”. I called it the “road to heaven”. Phil later informed me this was the road featured on the TV Show “World’s Deadliest Roads…” This was the road that led us to one of the orphanages. Each time I felt the urge to complain I was reminded that this was daily living for these people—no heat or extreme heat, the smells, the sounds, the sights– the poverty, the pain….

I wouldn’t trade our experience for anything. We went to India to open orphanages, and spend time with the children there. All of the sickness, anxiety, and stress caused by traveling and being “out of your element” melted away when you pulled up to see dozens of smiling faces waiting for you, and waiting to see their new homes and their new beds for the very first time!

Children Wait To See Their Home For The First Time

One of my greatest memories of a lifetime was when Phil and I witnessed 50 children run into their new home like they were running into Disney World. Their smiles sparkled as they laid on their brand new beds – the first time they would ever lay on a bed or a pillow in their entire lives. We wrapped our arms around the children and welcomed them into more than just their new homes, but their new lives.  We played with them, taught them games, sang with them, and loved on them!

Boys Get A Brand New Bed!

As memorable and wonderful as our time was, we know that we can do so much more – more than 25 million orphans just like those still live tragic lives on the streets and in the slums with the same fate those 50 children once held. One of the children at the first home was actually found “buried alive” alongside a railroad track. Someone saw their little fingers and toes wiggling, and they were rescued and given a second chance.  You can’t turn away from this reality, and what we saw.

We know this visit wasn’t the end for us, but rather the beginning… without a miraculous rescue, these orphaned children are doomed to end up in one of three places: forced child trafficking, child labor, or begging on the streets for barely enough to get by. This is no life for a human being, let alone for a child. We know that we can do so much more.

This one experience transformed our lives.  We had our instantaneous “revelation”. A true picture of our purpose and plan—our life’s mission—our reason “why”.

Our business is a marketplace ministry that allows us to impact and influence thousands of lives within our opportunity. Our business also provides us the time and resources to be able to impact and influence the children of the world in a meaningful way.

As YOU prepare for this holiday season, think about ways that you can make a difference in the lives of others too, and live “outside of yourself”.

I sometimes get a little uneasy when people say: “I wish I could bless people like you—I don’t have the money…” Why can’t you be a blessing with your time, and volunteer, or be a friend to others? Why can’t you be a blessing with your talent, and do something nice for another individual, family, or organization? And if you have the resources, use them to make a difference in the lives of others…you CAN make a difference.

This life is not our own—we are blessed to be a blessing. We all have a divine purpose and plan for our life that only we can fulfill. Focus on being a blessing—somewhere, someone is waiting for you.

Meet a need—your needs will be met.

Be a blessing—your life will be blessed.

Be a friend—your relationships will be fulfilling.

This is not the end. It’s just the beginning. More to come from the “Robbins Nest”. Many asked how you could get involved…when we were there we opened 12 child and 50 child orphanages—we were challenged to open homes for over 100 this year! We will keep you up to date on our journey in 2013, and how you can be a part!  Stay tuned…

PUT SOME JINGLE IN YOUR POCKET THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

Would some bonuses help you to have a debt free holiday? Would you like to put some extra “jingle” in your pocket as you finish out 2012? Building your network marketing business during this time of year can be fun, festive, and extremely profitable! Let me show you how!

Here are a few of my holiday tips from the top, for building your Network Marketing Business:

1.) Give people the gift of your products or service:
There is no better way to market your products and business than to get our goods in the hands of as many people possible. So, in addition to updating your prospect list this month, I want you to make your holiday gift-giving list, and then pick a product for each person on the list. We know that once people use our products, they’re hooked. And then they talk about it. They re-order, refer people on, and some may even join your team in the New Year!

Who to give the gifts to:
-friends, family, referral sources, your loyal customers, people who provide you services (mail person, realtor, hair/nail person, housekeeper, sitter, teacher, coaches).

Now’s the time to make your list and check it twice!!!
Make a list of all the people you need to give a gift to, and remember–it’s marketing, and smart business! It doesn’t have to be expensive.

2) In addition to giving the gift of your product, be sure to give the gift of financial opportunity to everyone you meet!

The Holidays are a Prospecting Paradise!

The holidays are a fabulous time to network and capture leads. You reconnect with people you know, and it’s also a great time to meet new people as well. Holiday events provide countless opportunities to tell your story, your company story, capture contacts, set a date to follow up and get people started in the business or on the products.

Keep Conversations Casual and Simple. I once heard people say that networking is like interviewing: just ask people a lot of questions like “where are you from?” “Do you have kids? How old are they?” “What do you do?” This way you build rapport and get people talking about what they love and are most familiar with- themselves! The conversation will always bounce back to you! And of course, be good about bouncing back to them—like the game of ping pong.

When someone asks you what you do, a good response would be:
“I am a teacher by trade, but my passion is my new business.”

Then tell your personal story sharing about how you started your business, what interested you most about the opportunity, and what it’s doing for you (or what you plan on it providing for you). Share other leaders success stories they may relate to. Keep it short and sweet. Then, set a date to share more.

You could say something like:
“We’re hear to enjoy the party tonight. I would love to tell you more at a later time! Let me quickly get your contact information-What’s your number & email?”

Capture or confirm contact information then say:
“As we expand here in <city> I’m always looking for people to join us. I’ll give you a call this week and tell you a little more. You may or may not have a personal interest, but maybe you could lead me to just the right person. I’d love to pick your brain and get ideas on how to expand my business here. I’m looking for referrals as we expand in <city>”

Learn to comfortably combine socializing with friends and family, meeting new people, enjoying the party, and capturing leads! Don’t miss these opportunities to share your passion for your business and products.

Remember, the holidays are a prospecting paradise but the fortune really is in the follow up. So after the party be sure you send a quick email or Facebook message saying:
“It was nice to see you, and I look forward to speaking to you again this week. Here are some links to review before we chat…”

Send them a link to your website, and opportunity video. Make a note in your calendar to contact them. Then invite them to hear more at a live meeting, call, webinar, etc.

Set Some Networking Goals For Yourself in December:
• How many leads would you like from each party or event?
• How many business cards will you hand out at each event?

Remember- now is the perfect time of year to share, as people are already thinking of their New Years Resolutions to:
• Better themselves
• Start a business
• Earn more money & erase holiday debt
•The Network Marketing Profession can provide the SOLUTIONS to these New Years RESOLUTIONS!

Lace up your “elf shoes” and get ready to RUN!
Work hard, and put some extra “jingle” in your pockets this holiday!
How you finish the year sets you up for sweet success in the New Year!

A few years ago, I was given a gift…a chance to be mentored by a great man, Christian Diaz.

Christian Diaz and Sarah Robbins

Christian Diaz and Sarah Robbins

Chris taught us how to live with integrity, lead with strength, and how to love people and the network marketing profession. When he came on board we were just beginning–no one really knew how to build or lead. Chris poured his time, talent and resources into us. He made our success his full time focus. And by success I’m not just talking about success materially, he was concerned with our inner success as well- who we were, where we were going, and what we were creating in the world.

Chris became ill with leukemia just a couple of years ago. Even so, he would call us during his treatments–text us from his hospital bed–email us during the most painful times (physically and emotionally) of his life. He never made his conversations about him–they were always about others, and how he could serve them–even when his conversations became shorter (as he had a hard time breathing), and became difficult to understand.

Chris became more than a mentor to me–he was a friend–he was a father figure. He was also an artist, and sculptor. He shaped our business–but even greater, he shaped our lives. Christian lost his battle with cancer the other night. My heart  is heavy–but watching the posts that poured in on his Facebook wall made me realize that although he is no longer with us, his legacy will forever live. He is a great example of a life well lived.

Christian was a “creator”…he sculpted and created beautiful works of art…but he also crafted masterpieces in the lives of those he touched…and the brilliant artwork left behind is our team of bright and brilliant leaders, of whom we have the honor to pass the torch, and continue Chris’ legacy of changing lives. During this Thanksgiving I am so thankful for how he impacted our lives and our leadership. Thanksgiving wasn’t just a holiday for Chris–it was a state of being…he was always grateful, always humble, and always giving thanks and praise to those he loved. May we remember his example during our time with family and friends this Thanksgiving, and always

We are responsible for the legacy we create and the life we shape. Our influence can mold and shape others lives too– our actions and words can alter the course of history, and people’s destiny. Today, as I reflect on the life and legacy of a father and friend I ask myself: “What is my legacy? What do I want to be known for? What type of leader will I be?” It is my hope that as I grow, I will be shaped and molded into a leader who is loved like Chris–one whose legacy lives far beyond the length of my life.

Today I am thankful for my calling as leader, and for the opportunity in my hands to create a legacy that lives beyond me.
Wishing you and those you love a Happy Thanksgiving….tell them you are thankful.
*For those that knew and loved Chris:
A Celebration of Christian’s Life will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Preston Road Church of Christ, Commons Area, 6409 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75205, (at the corner of Preston Road and University).
