Handling Objections in Network Marketing, Direct Sales, and MLM

As the #1 earner of my network marketing company, I am often times asked how to handle the “dreaded objections” that come up during the prospecting process in business. First of all let me say–much of their response is determined by how WE respond. The ABILITY to respond is our RESPONSIBILITY. I am not offended by objections at all–as it usually means the prospect is considering the opportunity enough to not blow me off, and ask me some questions.

Never get on the defense, and always validate your prospects concerns and question: I like to answer questions and handle objections by sharing stories of people they can relate to whenever possible. I also like to use the “feel felt found method” so they know that I am on their side. So I might say, “oh, I understand how you feel. My partner “so and so” felt the same way when she got started…but here’s what she found out.” Validate them and they will be on your side.

Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 7.12.14 PM

Let me share how I answer a few common objections:

“I’m so busy, I don’t have enough time to do this!”

“ I understand how you feel. I felt the same way when I got started. I was teaching kindergarten full time, and working this business very part time. But that’s not uncommon. We’ve found that most people work this business on very part time hours – working it into your everyday life on your own time! In just about 10-15 hours per week.” Tell stories of people who are working their business part time successfully! (*Remember: facts tell, stories sell in this business!)

I don’t have the Money to get started

“I can appreciate that. Many people are in the same place because of the recent recession. Because money is tight, this is all the more reason to join us! What if I can teach you a simple way to make the money back with our bonuses, during your first month?” (*share your fast start bonuses…if they still cannot start, then share other ideas to save up for the kit: such as having a garage sale, selling gold, auctioning household items on ebay, or take out a loan)

I’m not a salesperson

“Terrific! I’m not looking for salespeople! I am not a salesperson either. I’m in the business of sharing—our incredible products and the possibility of becoming a turn key entrepreneur with a global brand! I’m looking for passionate people that when they love something they’ll share. We’re looking for people who enjoy helping others. I can see you have your doubts but I want to reassure you if you decide to join us I will be training you! If I didn’t think you could do this, we wouldn’t be talking!

I don’t know anybody

Again—stories are powerful! I would share with them my story-when I started my business I had just moved, just gotten married…I was a formerly shy teacher in my 20’s, and truly didn’t know many people. But through our profession and proven system, I was able to expand my network and not only meet new customers, and consultants, but also new friends! By the age of 29 I was our company’s first 6 figure MONTHLY earner, and began earning a multiple six figure monthly income by 30!

I’d say: “What I love about this business is that it’s not necessarily who you know, but people you’ll meet, and be referred to! Plus, this business is a great way to get to know people as well. We will teach you tools to help you reach out.”

Don’t want to bug my friends or family

“Thank goodness! I don’t want you to bug your friends and family either! That is not what I do. I share what I’m doing & pick their brains to see if there’s anyone they know this would be great for.  I find what people have need of and then I try to fill that need whether it be with our product, or a need for extra income. I simply use a referral approach, asking them whom they know! Sometimes they identify themselves! We do that all the time—asking for referrals for babysitters, dry cleaners, etc!”

I need to try the products first

If they are local, and I can get a product sample to them, I say, “here, try this now, and tell me what you think!” Or- tell them that their start up pack is a great way to sample all of your products, and they get to learn as they earn!

I would also say: “As you know our company has a proven track record of product success. This is a learn as you earn business. When you purchase your products as a consultant, you’ll get below wholesale pricing. You’ll be able to try them all as you’re getting started, and all the while build a really great business! In the meantime the company provides incredible product testimonials”.

Is this a pyramid? (How many times do you think I heard this?!?!?!)

Actually, In my 5 years of doing this business I’ve only heard this objection once because of my belief and posture—it’s so strong that it’s not questionable. So if you’re getting this a lot be sure to connect with one of your leaders about personal and professional development materials that can increase your belief in yourself, our opportunity, and the profession as a whole. If I got this objection I might say something funny like: “No. Why? Is that what you’re looking for? “ Or…

“What do you mean by Pyramid? Pyramids are illegal. With pyramids there is no exchange of goods or services. We have an amazing product and a very loyal customer base who are elated with their results! Let’s get back to talking about if the business is a good fit for you—what other questions do you have?” I then move on quickly, so I don’t appear to be on the defense.

Closing:

After you’re done answering questions and handling objections, move on to the close– I would ask them if they have any final questions then say:

“On a scale from 1-10, how interested are you in the opportunity?” If they say 5 or higher, I would say: “what would make you a 10?” –this works very well, as it exposes their final objections that you can answer. Then, ask them to join you!

Remember: even if they say “no” now, delay is not denial. “No” doesn’t mean “no” forever, it just means “not right now”. Get them started on your products, and ask them who they know that would benefit from your opportunity and product. Then, revisit them at a later time.

You can SO do this! I’m proud of you Rock Stars! Go and ROCK your home business today! XO Sarah “Rockin” Robbins

You are stronger than you think, braver than you can imagine & can do anything you put your mind to!

sarah blog 3.001

I’m starting a healthy eating and exercise regimen. Although I always ate very healthy, and worked out regularly, I’ve decided to kick it up a notch!

I’m already feeling so much better, and starting to see early results. I thought–gosh, why didn’t I do this before? I realized–I wasn’t ready. Although I WISHED to be healthy and fit and I WANTED it badly, I wasn’t ready to do the extra WORK it would require to get to my goals

I had to map out a plan, really research and implement what I learn, and sacrifice other things (convenience, comfort, etc.) to get to my goal.

I travel a lot—this is what makes things even more challenging. When I’m home, I work out with a trainer, and my husband cooks healthy, clean meals. I used to have a lot of anxiety before trips, knowing that meals and exercise would be more of a challenge. I now realize that my goal is possible and travel can be enjoyable, but it will require a little extra planning on my part.

I just returned from a trip to Texas, and packed a suitcase full of “clean eating” staples, weights, requested a hotel refrigerator, and stopped immediately at a Whole Foods to stock up on healthy food. It wasn’t the easiest route, but it was worth it.  I had so much energy this week, and really enjoyed my trip, with a positive mindset!

I have decided that any predominant thought that’s not positive has no room in my mind, or in my life. I will strive for top levels of fitness so I can feel good, be healthy in my thoughts and in my body, and set a great example for those I lead, and love.

Determined. Not even travel will deter me from achieving victory! Clean eating and exercise is possible when traveling!

A few years ago, I had a similar “defining moment” where I made a decision to be successful in my business. When I started my business, I would say I wanted to be successful, and in the same breath, threaten to quit when things didn’t go my way.

One day, I was sitting in a parking lot in my car, waiting for a meeting to start. I got a call from one of my mom’s friends Rachel, who was also a consultant in my company. At the time, I was struggling in my business. I picked up the phone, and she immediately opened with: “Sarah, you want to know what’s been holding you back?” I was so excited…FINALLY! She was going to give me the ‘magic bullet” for success! She knew the answer! She proceeded: “You are doing all the right things—going through the motions, showing up to every meeting and call. But your problem is that your thoughts & words towards your business and team don’t align with your goals. You want it, but you really haven’t made a decision that you’re “in” no matter what!”

Ouch!” She told me! That was one of the most honest conversations anyone has had with me, and to be honest, it was a defining moment in my life. She was right! I was going through the motions—but I hadn’t really made up in my mind, and declared that I was going to be successful!

At that moment I made up my mind, and began to change my daily declarations saying: “I have the fastest growing team in the company! I will be a top leader and earner”! I backed up those words with daily activity goals—reaching out to 3-5 people per day about my business. I committed to learning and implementing what I learned though daily personal and professional development. I went from being the “least” highest earner to the #1 earner today in my company. This is the power of decision, followed by action.

I believe YOU have everything it takes to be successful in your life. Plan for your success daily. For your business, commit to reach out to 5 people a day and follow up in 48 hours. Ask them to try products, and for referrals if they aren’t interested in the biz. Plan your call times. Prepare for success. DECIDE.

Don’t wish for it. Don’t watch. Wanting it is not enough–work for it.

I know my last bit of weight will take time (I lost over 60 pounds since I was married)–but I’m committed to do what it takes & conquer any area of my life (or mind) that would hold me back.

Life is short–I wish to live a victorious one…

YOU are stronger than you think, braver than you can imagine & can do anything you put your mind to! You deserve to live a victorious life.

Conquer the little things so you can achieve big things! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Rock on rock stars! Sarah “Rockin” Robbins

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

What is prospecting? Webster’s Dictionary defines it as looking for GOLD.

Prospecting is the process of talking to people, in hopes that you will find some who are interested in joining you on your products or in your business. In the process of these conversations, you’ll “sift through” a lot of people to find a few who will join you. Then, you’ll have a lot of people join you, of whom will work at varying paces. Keep in mind, it only takes a few power partners to change your life! That’s your “gold”! Remember–you may have to talk to a lot to find those few, like sifting for gold. I love what one my friends Tonya says: “If I told you that you had 4 gold bricks in your back yard, would you continue to dig until you find them?” Sure you would…

I’m living proof of this concept—I’ve been sifting for a long time. You see, I’ve probably talked to thousands of people since I started my business 5 years ago. I’ve had over 100+ people  join me in business, and many customers. I have about 30 people still working the business at a moderate pace. I have 10 top leaders at this time, and of those about 3 people who account for a good chunk of my 7 figure income. I’ve found the same stats to be accurate industry wide. I was asked on stage at a major industry event with all of the top earners of their respective company’s. They were asked how many they recruited—the numbers varied between 50-over 100 over time…when asked how many people accounted for the majority of their income…they all said between 2-3! The major growth of your organization will probably be tied to just 2-3 people too. But you never know what your personal set off odds will be, and how many conversations you’ll have, or how many people will join you before you find them! So get ready to talk it up! Prospecting is now what you do for a living. The more people you share this with, the better your odds of finding your power partners!

I want you to learn to take the pressure off when you’re prospecting. Think of it this way—you are just sharing & inviting. I don’t want you to be emotionally connected to the outcome. Think of yourself like a waiter or a waitress pouring a cup of coffee. A server is not offended when you say “no” to the coffee. They keep offering it to everyone. Take all emotions out of this- and if people say no, keep pouring. Some people say no now, but may change their mind later. So always revisit them. Ask them to try your products, and keep pouring!

sarah blog 4.001

Often times I’m asked: So where do I find people? I smile–because we are surrounded by people–it just is a matter of whether you are willing to talk to them. So what do you say??? Let me share a few approaches to strike up conversation with those you know, and those you meet! And later I will leave you with a few powerful places and ways to prospect too!

Prospecting-Sharing With People You Know

When it comes to sharing with people I know, I love to be direct when possible and tell them I think they’d be great at what I’d do. But for people I’m less comfortable calling, I like to use a referral-based approach. This may be for someone you know from a professional level, really admire, or may be more of an acquaintance. For them, your approach may be something like this:

“Hi Susie, it’s Sarah. I’m calling you for a reason today—do you have just a few minutes? Great, I wanted to first start by saying how much I respect you, and admire you. (pay them a genuine compliment) I know you’ve built an incredible network in Chicago. I’m not sure if I mentioned this,  but I am building my business there and I immediately thought of you because I know how well networked and respected you are there. I’m hoping I could share more about what we’re doing, and who we’re looking to partner with as we expand there, and see if this is a good fit for anyone you know in the area. Do you have just a few minutes so I could share more?”

Then go into sharing your story and the companys story. Invite them to hear more at an upcoming event, or an upcoming call.

Prospecting- Sharing With People You Meet

When striking up a conversation, I like to make it all about them! Almost like you’re interviewing them—ask them a lot of questions! People love to talk about themselves! Start with compliments—ask them questions about their family, where they work, etc. I like to eventually ask: Where are you from? –This question will lead you into what I like to call your “professional pick up line” later on.   Keep conversing like the game of ping pong, and eventually say how nice it was to meet them.

Then ask: “Do you have a card? Earlier you mentioned you were from <their city>. My business is expanding to <their city>. I would like to give you a call and take just a few minutes to tell you what we’re doing there, and who we’re looking for and pick your brain.  I’ve so enjoyed talking to you—I’d love to reconnect and see if you can help me out.”

If they ask what you do, share a quick one liner of the company about what you do! Then: “We just opened this market and the response has been huge. Again, I would love to talk to you about some ideas for expanding the market there, and if you have great connections who would be interested! Can we set up a 15 min chat tomorrow?”

When you call them back, share how great it was to meet them. Then say something like: “ As I mentioned when we met I just started a new business and I’d love to tell you about it. Do you have a few minutes so I can share with you what we’re doing and who may come to mind that may be interested in learning more?”

Then share your story and your company story. Invite them to hear more on an upcoming call, or to an event.

Other Power Prospecting Ideas:

Contact Lists–Create your contact list by going through your phone, your social media sites, address books, and company memory jogger lists. Call 5/day—tell them what you’re up to, and ask for referrals.

Business launches—These are a great way to showcase your products and opportunity to a lot of people at once. Do your own launch events, and ask people to host one for you, as you “expand your business in their area”.

Networking groups or chamber events– create strategic business relationships that allow you to meet others so you can help each other grow your businesses. I met one of my top leaders Stacey when I set up a booth at a womens networking event in California. She was looking for a home based opportunity ,approached me, and was one of my first leaders!

Events–whether it’s a cocktail mixer, or a holiday event—when you are surrounded by people, it’s a great opportunity to collect contact info and connect with them later.

People who provide you services—you’ve been doing business with them for years. Now it’s their turn to help you out! Ask for their support!

Social Media– I get a lot of leads online! Mix up your posts with other interesting messages.  Be sure to find me on my personal Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube— follow my lead! I invite you to “follow the leader” to get ideas of what I am doing for my business, and modify with yours.

Lifestyle networking—you read how to strike up conversation. I love to do this while traveling—when people ask where I’m going, I tell them that I’m expanding my business there. The mall is another great place to meet new people—when clerks or waitresses give you great service, thank them. Tell them you’re looking for people like them! Invite them to hear more.

Customers–  Ask your customers for referrals, or convert them into consultants/distributors when they fall in love with products!

Remember to keep your mind open, and your mouth open—then your business is open! You never know when or where you’ll find your next rock star!

Hope you enjoyed a little taste of Power Prospecting from my Network Marketing University…more to come! For now, follow me on my FB Business Page for a daily dose of inspiration as you build your home based business!

The whole world is a lead. Happy Prospecting!

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

“To run fast, run by yourself. To run far, run with others” -African proverb

Currently, I lead tens of thousands of entrepreneurs myself, so I am often times asked to share my best leadership tips. I decided to put some thought behind my response, and share them all with you! Here  are my Top Ten “E’s” To Become an Empowering Entrepreneur:

1) Eighty-six the ego. In business there can be a lot of ego. We can also experience a lot of rejection. Humility is the ability to not be moved by flattery or by criticism. Remember- confidence and humility are not in conflict with each other, you CAN have BOTH at the same time!

2) Encourage- good leaders are great at recognition—for accomplishments both  great or small! I’ve heard the saying: “people will work harder for praises than raises!” Recognition can be free—it can be a quick call of congratulations. Handwritten notes are powerful– I sometimes like to slip in little $5 gift cards for iTunes and say: “You rock! Keep it up!” Public praise on social media sites, in a newsletter, or at a live meeting are not to be underestimated! Recognition= retention! People stay when they are praised!

3) Engage your group—Good leaders know how to take a spotlight, turn it away from them—and shine it onto their teams. Think of ways you can involve your team at meetings and events. People “buy in” when they are involved in the process!

4) Educate them—Leaders take the responsibility to train their teams.

5) Equip them—develop a mentality that you are out to create empowered leaders! Turn off your “enabling button”. Duplicate yourself as quickly as possible. Don’t get stuck in “management mode” thinking you should or have to do everything yourself. Teach your team to be problem solvers and critical thinkers. Encourage them to rise to the challenge, and develop their own leadership right away!

6) Edify- Good leaders know how to edify their company, others leaders, and those they lead. Use your words to build up, not tear down. It all comes back to you, and how you speak of others is a true reflection on YOU! And it all comes back to you—good or bad. Criticizing someone else is never a vision or a plan. Leaders are never critics.

7) Ethics-be a person on abundance & integrity. Be honest—do the right thing at all times. Tell the truth. Honor your team.

8) Example (lead by it!)—Whatever you do duplicates around you! Don’t train on things you’re unwilling to do. You set the pace. The speed of the leader is the speed of the team.

9) Endure–Pick one company, or mission, and stick with it. The grass is never greener on the other side, or in another company. The grass is only green where you water it!

10) EDUCATE YOURSELF– personal and professional development is key…

Have you heard the story about the starving baker?

Imagine… there was a brand new beautiful bakery built right down the road—the aroma of fresh pastries filled the air, where hot, delightful treats would be served all day long. This baker is brilliant. You go in, and get your treat, and watch the baker do his thing! It is magnificent watching. He does everything himself; he cleans the tables, tends to the cash register, bakes the goods, greets the guests. You start to notice, wow, he’s surprisingly thin….you began to think “He’s so busy baking for others, he’s forgetting to eat and he’s starving himself”.

Are you that starving baker? Most of us are so busy that we fall into starving baker mode. We get so wrapped up in our jobs, our problems, the house, errands, and everyone else and their matters…that we never push “pause” and take the time to grow ourselves. We feel hollow—and sometimes we feel fake. But you are not fake…what you are is a starving baker—you’ve gotten busy and you’ve stopped growing. We’ve all been there before.

Taking time for our personal and professional growth provides nourishment for our souls, and it fuels our minds. It makes us more effective for everyone in our lives we influence—our families, friends, and our teams. If I could encourage all of you to implement one thing today—it would be to plan to wake up each day and just as you eat your breakfast to fuel your body,  begin to feed your mind too! You can only go as far as you grow! Read books on areas you wish you grow (both personally and professionally). Listen to only things that will encourage your growth.

If you really take the time to grow both personally and professionally, I can promise you you’ll grow in the top 10 categories above!

Speaking of personal and professional development, I did a little <3 Day Giveaway, on my Facebook Business Page for Business Leaders which teaches people how to generate leads, close more sales, and get social media strategies for any small or home based business. I asked key leaders to share: what are your favorite books/ materials on leadership or business? They gave so many great recommendations!

Three lucky participants on the page won a library full of some of my favorite personal and professional development materials, plus my Network Marketing University CD Series…plus a few fan faves from this weekend’s contest!

Congratulations goes out to: Sara Marble, Jodi Stott, and Patricia Sanabria Maki

PS- a big thanks to Sara Marble for giving me rave review of how the Network Marketing University CD Series is helping her team ROCK their business (this was unsolicited, and a great treat to find pop up in my inbox this morning):

DREAMING BIG!!!!!”

11.001

On this first day of February, the month of LOVE…I’ve been thinking a lot about leadership, and the power of LOVE.

What’s LOVE Got To Do With It? LOVE Is Everything…

If you’ve been given INFLUENCE in any measure, you have a great responsibility. You may be the only example of LOVE and LIGHT that people see.

Is there someone in business that’s tested your patience? Has someone done something to grate your nerves? Has someone said something or come against you in a way that you feel the need to defend, and “get even”, or perhaps even call to other’s attention your innocence, and their “wrong doing”? I’ve encountered a few of these situations myself over the course of time, and I choose to walk in integrity, realizing how I respond determines the outcome and people’s perception of me.

Lead With Love–It Truly Conquers All… (and you come out on top!)

That person could be in your path as a test for YOU–what will YOU do? How will YOU respond?

In order to be trusted with more influence, God wants to see how you will respond to the FEW!

How we respond to the “littlest” situation can have the greatest impact in the lives of others, and in our own. If you desire increase, be faithful in the platform you’ve been given–and lead with LOVE in all things you do. Somewhere, someone is watching. Your influence is important.

Show me some “LOVE” 😉 And tell me your thoughts on leadership below…what do you look for in a great leader?

And please “Share the LOVE” by sharing this post on your favorite social site!

Love YOU Rock Stars! XO

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

Hey there Rock Stars, Sarah “Rockin” Robbins here–

Network marketing truly ROCKS! It’s one of the smartest forms of distribution, where it cuts out the middleman, overhead, employees, and a brick and mortar building–and allows us as distributors to leverage strong brands and promote powerful products, and potentially earn a really lucrative income!

Developing a rockin customer base is essential in our profession. It’s a great way to earn upfront money, and of course, residual income as your customers reorder from you. Customers also make the best “evangelists” for the product, often times telling others about their results–and referring people on! And if you take great care of your customers, it’s likely they continue to order from you and will eventually want to join you in the business to get your distributor discount on the product too!

Today I want to share a few ways that I’ve built my customer base:

-Launch events in people’s homes—We aren’t a party plan company, but when I started my business, I hosted some events in my home to share the products and the opportunity. We will talk about the mechanics of how to host a successful event on an upcoming blog post. But I knew if I had limited hours, I would rather spend 1 hour of my time in front of 10 or more people, opposed to talking to one person on the phone for an hour! It was a great way to build my business fast! When I saw the success, I began calling my friends and family saying, “I have a business that’s growing in your area, and I would love to meet new people. Would you be willing to host an event for me? You invite your friends, I will do all the work. I’ll even throw in free product as a thank you”! This expanded my audience, increased my exposure, and helped me to secure more customers and leads for my business.

-Customer appreciation events- once a month my local team and I did Friends, Family, and Customer Appreciation Events. We would do them at a winery and do a “leave the aging to wine and cheese” event or a “cocktails and conversations”.  Some are having them in home. We would focus on sharing product stories, doing product demos, and doing fun drawings. And of course, we mentioned the opportunity and shared our business success stories too!  Our friends, family, and customers would come and bring their friends! These fun events would pack the room for us & give great results!

-Gift it at every occasion- I am always looking for ways to get our products in people’s hands—whether it be the holidays, someone’s birthday, or as a thank you. I know if I can get them on the product, they’re hooked! Plus it’s an open door to a conversation about my business in the future when I follow up with them!

-Tradeshows- when I started my business I looked for every occasion to get in front of a lot of people. I would go online and search for events at schools, churches, local networking events, etc. If the booth was under $100, I was “in”! I would have a raffle to collect leads for my email list, draw them in through the raffle and have quality conversations, and always generated product sales and interested prospects for the business. The key to those events? Follow up!

-Networking Groups- One of my top leaders Amy recently did a rockin class for our team on how to generate big business through networking groups. One of her mentors (a 6 figure earner in our profession) had recommended it. Amy committed to going weekly (they do require commitment and building of relationships)…but today it’s generated a lot of product volume for her, and recently the gals in the group hosted a wine and cheese event for her which produced significant sales!

-Leverage Social Media- If you don’t know how to do social media “well”…I recommend you follow me on my social media sites and “follow the leader”. What I do can easily be modified with your product/opportunity message! So watch, and learn! 🙂 As you, your family and friends are using the products, be sure to develop a lot of product stories and track your progress with before and afters—post the before and afters and their testimonials on social media sites—collect them from your customers too and ask them for permission to use them!

-Develop your own “referral rewards” program- that rewards your customers and contacts for referring people on to you for the products, or the opportunity—or even if they’d be willing to host an event for you to help you to expand your audience.

I’d be sure to tell your customers and contacts that you’re always looking for referrals for the business, and for people who’d like to join the on the products…and then tell them what you’re willing to offer for their referrals, whether it be a small product that you can fulfill through your personal order, or whether it be cash back from your commission as a “finders fee”.

And then let them know you’re expanding in their area, and would love to get to know more people. Say something like: “I’m expanding my business in your area and would love to meet more people! Would you be willing to host an event for me? It would just take an hour of your time, you invite people, I’ll do the work, and I’m happy to throw in some of your favorite products as a thank you.” If they host that event, when people are signing up, another trick is to ask them: “Are these folks coming in under you or under me? Now’s your chance to join me”! My business partner Karen did this and developed a whole new leg in her organization!

Sarah and Emily– Proof That Referrals are Rewarding!

Use your discretion on how much you’re willing to give for referrals who join  you on the products or the business, or if someone hosts an event for you—but don’t forget, referrals can be very rewarding! Some of my strongest consultants came from referral sources! In fact, my personal business partners Emily & Tim are both top leaders in our company. I met Emily through my sister Emily. My sister wasn’t interested in our business, but I asked her if I could share more with her about what I was doing, in hopes that she could lead me to someone. I further explained there would be referral rewards for  her if she did! She agreed, I shared more, and I gave her some ideas of what to email out and a few brief blurbs to post on FB. One day, she posted a few sentences on FB about my business and my success, asking people if they wanted to learn more. A gal at our gym messaged her back, came to one of our meetings, and joined me! Today, she’s risen to the top of our leader board, has earned over $10,000 in bonuses with the company on top of her commissions, and also served on our company’s advisory board! The best part? Emily and Tim have become two of our best friends!

As you can see, referrals can be very rewarding! So get out there and share your rockin referral rewards with everyone!

Have tons of fun this week on your quest for new customers–now go out there, and get an army full of them! 🙂

Rock on Rock Stars,

Sarah “Rockin” Robbins

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

It’s January 21, and we are officially 3 weeks in to the New Year…how are those business goals coming along?

In order to stay fully connected and committed to our business, we must focus on our vision, or reason WHY before we can focus on the HOW!

Successful people always focus on the end results, while others get stuck on how they will get there. One of the most important exercises you can do as you begin your business is to identify your “Reason Why”. Ask yourself: What is driving you emotionally to develop a successful business?

Your “why” is your long term vision for success. How can you know the route to take if you don’t know where you’re going?

Let me ask you a few questions: If time and money were no issue … how would your life look? Where would you live? What would you drive? What would you do with your time? Would you have any debt? In other words … what will a successful business do for your life, your family’s life, and your lifestyle?

I want you to clearly define & write down why you are doing your business. If you’re new, this is a perfect exercise for you. If you’ve been in your business for awhile, it’s a great time to revisit your reason why, as it can evolve over time. What is the “big picture”?  The more specific, the more powerful it will be! Make it compelling so it causes you to find the time, face your fears, and persevere!

Is it to have a college fund for your children?; to pay off debt?; buy your dream home?; become more self-reliant?; are you funding your retirement?;

Mine??? I wanted to start a foundation for  children that I would fund through this business

My Reason Why In Action

One of the first things I did when I started my network marketing business, was to write down my reason WHY. I remember working with one of my mentors who asked me:

“Sarah, what’s your reason why?”

I told her: “I want to start a foundation for children that is fully funded through my network marketing business. It will provide housing, teaching and training for mothers, and a camp for kids!”

Impressed, she asked: “ And how much will that cost?”

“Millions” I told her.

She proceeded to ask: “And how does that feel?”

“I have to admit, it’s overwhelming,” I said.

You see, my why was so big, that  instead of serving as a motivator, at times it would be a demotivator. I was so overwhelmed by my dream that I often felt defeated, which is why it was easy for me to want to quit when I got discouraged.

She then gave me the best advice: to break down my reason why into achievable goals so I could celebrate small successes on the way to my big dream. I started a separate bank account, that would allow me to put aside a portion of my check each month and do something nice for a family in need. As my checks grew, so did the impact we were able to have on others: we sent a mom’s young boys to fine arts camp. We covered medical bills. We built a few ramps for people will physical impairments. We provided holidays to struggling families. Now that our team has grown, so does our impact–we recently returned from a trip where we opened orphanages in India. We were now able to give of our time, talent, and resources, to many causes that tug at our hearts. NOW I’m driven by my dreams verses the detours & disappointments I may face.

After reading this, please stop and take the time (I’m talking a few hours) and write down your reason why. Most people skip over this step—and I can promise you it is one of the most powerful things you can do to start your business, especially in the New Year. Craft a compelling vision for your future, like a movie, as if it were happening in present tense—no wimpy words like “I wish”. Use strong words like “I am”. No negative words like “I am no longer shy”. Make strong, positive proclamations like “I am confident!” Include the senses—describe your vision. What does your life look like? Your family? Your future? Your home? Your business?
Map out all of the people, places, and things that are important to you. Touch on every area of your life. You will know you’ve accomplished the task when you read it and it motivates and moves you. When you’ve completed this, I want you to share it with someone- whether it be your spouse, supporters in life, or your sponsor. Remember: Anything is possible is your reason why is big enough!

Earlier I mentioned that my “why” wasn’t always a motivator because it seemed so far away, so I had to break things down a bit, and focus on more bite sized goals. Equally important to writing your long term vision or your “Why” is setting short-term goals along the way that allow you to celebrate more immediate successes, which ultimately pave a path to you recognizing your dreams! Successful people always have their next goal in mind.

Goals are dreams with deadlines. Where do you want your business to be this quarter? What titles do you want to achieve? What bonus programs or incentives are you working toward with your company? Write down what they are, when you want to reach them (put it in your planner) and then share them with your sponsor or accountability partner, to strategize on the “how”…an action plan…what does it take to get there, whose help will you need, and what daily activities will you have to implement yourself and with your team to achieve that goal?

Achieving Some Memorable Goals

Create visual reminders by posting pictures of what you’re working toward. I have a goal board for all of the things in my life I’m working toward and all of the things I’m praying for. You can even create a constant visual reminder by taking a snapshot of what you’re working toward, and put it on the homescreen of your smartphone. Then, each time you pick up the phone for a prospecting call and it seems to weigh a thousand pounds it will motivate you. Paste pictures in your planner, so when you look at your planner for your long day’s agenda, you are motivated to take action and forge ahead! If you’re running for a trip, put a picture of that place where you can see it! If it’s a company car—get to a local dealership, take your picture of yourself in that car and post it so it serves as a daily reminder of what you’re working toward (not to mention, it’s a great conversation starter on social media!)

When you visualize something and focus on it daily, it will increase your belief, it will keep you committed, increasing your chances it will happen over time! One of the keys to achieving a goal is to share it with someone—whether it be your spouse or sponsor—but I recommend an accountability partner. Choose someone in your company who’s committed to remaining positive, who’s collaborative, and who’s working toward something similar as you! They don’t have to be on your team. Set a weekly talk time to inspire one another and share best practices, and celebrate successes! Social integration is powerful—processing with positive people allows you to discuss and apply what you’re learning!

Get an accountability partner right away and start goal setting today! Can’t wait for your to achieve your goals, and ultimately realize your dreams!

I’m blessed to be  living mine: through Network Marketing I was able to earn a fabulous free car, enjoy fabulous free travel around the world, I work with the love of my life Phil and fabulous friends in my business, and we design our dream lives! The best part? We are starting that foundation, providing love and a loving home to children in need! I’m so in LOVE with this profession! Never give up on your goals–you too, can achieve your dreams!

Hope you enjoyed learning about the power of creating your Reason Why from my Seven Figure Success System.

Tell me below: What is YOUR reason why? I would love to read them!

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

Network marketing is one of the smartest business models on the planet! It is a model where it takes ordinary people like me  and helps them to achieve extraordinary results! Where else could a formerly shy teacher in her 20’s compress a 30-50 year career into 3-5 years and elevate to success that others only dream of—and most people can’t even conceive! I’ve fallen head over heels in love with our profession, and if I had to recreate my wealth all over again, I’d do it in network marketing!

Here’s why I am in love:

This is a brilliant business model where instead of investing in advertising and celebrity endorsement, companies invests in us, and our success. It allows us to leverage the integrity of a big brands, and leverage the time, talent and resources of large corporations, often times for less than $1,000. It’s simple (it doesn’t require a college degree, overhead, employees, or a brick and mortar shop.) It’s scalable. Bottom line–it’s smart. The DSA (Direct Selling Association) just celebrated it’s 100 year anniversary—so direct sales is a tried and true business model, proven to be timeless. Network marketing does over $100bil a year in sales, and it is one of the fastest growing business models in the world! It has gained tremendous attention and acceptance globally in publications like Success, Fortune, Forbes, and USA Today.

Network marketing provides outstanding opportunities to its participants–it provides a turnkey business, at a low cost, carries little to no risk, and there’s no experience necessary. It carries many incredible benefits such as:

FREEDOM AND FLEIXIBILITY, FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITY, FUN AND FRIENDSHIP, and FABULOUS OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH!

FREEDOM & FLEXIBILITY-with Network Marketing you don’t trade hours for dollars, or your time for someone elses money. You can work this part time, any time! There’s no commute to work. You create your hours and block out the important things in your life and plan around them. Essentially, you design a professional life that fits around the rest of your life. Often times started as a plan B, it can easily become a plan A. That’s how I started—simply to supplement my teacher’s salary, and a few years later became a seven figure earner.

Many people are looking for extra earning potential due to the recent economic downturn, and talk of this “Fiscal Cliff”.  This puts them in a bind—many are surviving on 3-4 income households, with no one raising their children. I saw this sad reality as a kindergarten teacher all of the time—kids being dropped off to school by their daycare provider, and being bussed back into daycare—they saw their parents for a meal, homework, and bed. I want to be clear I’m not slamming anyone in this situation, I just want you to know and be aware that Network marketing can provide a better solution—it doesn’t require you to go back to school, or take on another full time job. It allows you to choose a dream life over a dream job, and to be fully present in your own life, as well as your families life.

FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITY- Network Marketing is one of the best choices if you’re looking to create unlimited earning potential but have little upfront money. We leverage our investment once and have the opportunity for an exponential ROI. This business allows you to create passive residual income—getting paid over and over again for work you did one time…

I mentioned earlier that if you give this enough time and effort, you are able to compress a 30-50 year career into 3-5 years! This business can lead to ongoing residual income for you. If you build it right, you can get paid on the royalties or residual income forevermore! This business provides true leverage—which gives you security. True wealth is created through leverage. This business model has little to do with YOU, but rather what you start. Once you build your Network Marketing empire—it becomes an asset to you. It is an incredible financial vehicle that allows you to pursue all of your lifes goals and dreams.

With Network Marketing, we also turn expenses into an income, buying from our own product store. And there are many tax advantages associated with owning a home based business. All of this allows you to make money or save money. You will get paid to talk about your transformative products and award winning business model—and you get paid to talk about what you love! All the while you are able to earn amazing  bonuses, competitive commissions, and incredible incentives! This is the company’s way of rewarding you for a job well done—you don’t just get paid, you also get recognized!

FUN & FRIENDSHIP—you choose those you partner with in this business. You have the chance to build your success, all while helping others to succeed!  You celebrate your success together in countless trips and trainings around the world! How lucky are we?!

FABULOUS OPPORTUNTIES FOR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: you are in business for yourself, and not by yourself. In our business model you receive incredible training through the company and team training systems that are provided. You also receive incredible personal development opportunities so you can grow as a person, which helps to support you inside and outside of our business model. This leads to incredible life and leadership skills—you grow in confidence and communication! The best part? You earn as you learn! The personal and professional growth opportunities definitely outweigh the paycheck for me!

WHAT MATTERS MOST…And last but not least, Network Marketing can provide you the time and resources that you need to passionately pursue your dreams, and to help others to achieve theirs. My husband and I just got back from a trip to India where we helped open up orphanages there. Many times we remarked, if we didn’t have the time and resources provided from our network marketing business, we would have never been able to do what we did, and continue to do. That’s what matters most! Was my journey easy? NO! Was it worth it? YOU BET!

To sum it up all up in one word: Network Marketing provides FREEDOM!  I am truly in LOVE!

Speaking of LOVE, if you love what I wrote: please feel free to “LIKE” it, or “SHARE” it on your favorite social sites that are listed! Because sharing ROCKS!

PS- I’d love to hear from you–tell me what YOU love most about your network marketing business! 🙂

(*she’s sure it will be one of the best investments you make to ROCK your business!)

I recently wrote an article in Networking Times, our profession’s leading publication! I wanted to share more with you on a hot topic in our profession: the power of your “list” (your greatest asset in this business!)

Networking Times Jan/Feb 2013

In network marketing, your list is your life!

When I get a new distributor off to a fast start we focus on 2 main things: launching their business, and their building & contacting their list! I coach my team to start with a big list, by going through phone contacts, Facebook friends, and by reviewing a company memory jogger list. I also trigger their memory by coaching them to go through old yearbooks, phone books, and invitation lists! I have them check out the yellow pages to trigger their memory of who they know that provides them services (you’ve done business with them for years, now it’s their turn to hear about your business!)

Your list will be ever growing as you encounter people and think of people. So always keep a notepad and a pen nearby as you continue to grow your list.  The larger your list, the more solidly you will establish your business. Network marketing, by nature requires you to talk to large numbers of people. The longer your list, the better chances for success.

Once you’ve created your list, think like a CEO—star your top 20 candidates! I want you to think of the savviest, most well connected, respected individuals you know…the influencers! These types of people have large centers of influences, and tend to build their organizations faster, with other people of influence.

Do not prejudge them! I learned this lesson the heard way. My mom and I used to work for a very influential woman named Stacey. Stacey and her husband owned several successful businesses in Chicago. We both thought of her many times and never called her. I thought she was too busy to look at my business, and I was afraid to call her.  Chances are, if you think someone is great, someone else does too. Eventually someone will call them, why not you?

Sarah, Her Mother Kris, and Stacey

In this case, Rose from Chicago beat us to it! She used a referral-based approach, complimenting Stacey, building on her credibility saying something simple like: “Stacey. I know you’ve built several successful businesses in Chicago, and I know you’re well networked in the Chicagoland area. I respect you. I am building a business in Chicago too. I was wondering if I could treat you to coffee, share with you what I’m doing, and pick your brain on ideas of how to grow this, and see if you know people who you think may be interested.” Stacey met her for coffee, and when she heard the opportunity, decided to join Rose! She ended up being the top recruiter in the company that year! I learned my lesson! Of course I’m thrilled for Stacey and Rose, but I only have to learn that type of lesson once! Now if someone comes to mind, I call them immediately, and I think: “which is greater: The risk or the reward?”

Stacey (left), Rose (middle right), and their upline team Prudy (middle left) and Vicki (right)

Lesson learned: Don’t pre-judge anyone. You don’t know what their hopes, dreams, desires, and their financial situations are. Usually the most well-connected, successful, busy people get it first, and they run with it!

It’s your job to share—it’s their job to decide! Happy prospecting!
